Girl Blue Summer Session
(Classes held at The Hayworth, 2511 Wilshire Blvd, 2nd fl, LA, 90057)

All classes are required and are taken as a group.  The group is never separated. We teach in an open and creative environment.  Everything is structured around the girls and their needs.  Have fun and enjoy learning how to be a better YOU!

Yoga:  We begin every morning with some form of yoga.  It encourages non-judgment,
soothes aggression and mentally prepares you for the day.

Self-Empowerment:  This class focuses on self-esteem, healthy body images, personal
standards and accountability.  Girls are in a safe environment where they can
candidly discuss issues that relate to them.  It is STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL.
Girls write in their journals, play confidence building games and trust exercises.
Some of the books used in this class are The Four Agreements by Don Miguel
Ruiz, Don Give It Away by Iyanla Vanzant, Get Unstuck by John Seeley as well
affirmations cards by Tavis Smiley.  This class is most vital to our curriculum.

Women’s Health:  We educate girls about the female body, sexual health risks,
HIV/AIDS and overall reproductive health.  This class is conducted by trained health professionals from Planned Parenthood.  We promote abstinence but want
our girls to know the facts about risky behavior. STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL.

Nutrition: We educate the girls on how important healthy food is and how to prepare
nutritious and tasty meals on a low budget. This is a new class to Girl Blue!

Etiquette:  Social conduct is the focus but we also teach table manners, posture, table
setting and how to dress appropriately for any occasion.

Money Management:  This is a fundamental course on how to balance a check book,
create a budget and apply for a job.  We teach the basics of banking.

The Girl Blue Project uses the performing arts to teach discipline and build self-esteem.  The classes are required, talent is not. You are here to learn about you!  If you have talent in these fields, great; if not, no worries.  Simply DO YOUR BEST.

Creative Writing: You will be writing poetry, spoken word

Dance: Modern ballet, African-this is a very physical class

Voice:  You will learn how to sing in “your voice”-remember it’s about YOU!

Acting:  Acting is a great way to boost self-esteem and combat many fears! Have fun.
